Introducing...

Mmmkay so it’s baby’s first blog. What to write...?

Since creating this, I’ve been surfing through others’ blogs to try to get a feel for what a blog is meant to look like or say or do...I guess the answer is that it’s anything you want it to be. Ultimately I find the whole exercise a little narcissistic, hence the name. Blogging assumes that there are people out there who care what you say or that your opinion is somehow more valuable than that of anyone else. This one is equally vain, I’ll admit right now. But the reason I’ve jumped on the bandwagon is for me have some fun way of documenting my trip to Helsinki. I was always crap at travel journals, but still think it’s important to keep a record of my activities/thoughts/people/photos to look back on later, so I’m hoping that this will inspire me to actually follow through! If others find it interesting or informative or vaguely entertaining, then that’s a bonus J On the flip side, apologies for anyone I offend or any half-baked opinions I express – the beauty of a blog is that it’s like having a conversation with others (or you’re imaginary friend) but the drawback is that you’ve got to put it down in words that outlive the thought behind them or otherwise might not be perceived the way you had intended. Plus I use offensive language and express strong opinions, which will usually do it, eh? At the end of the day, chillax, it’s a blog with one person’s passing thoughts, just click “next blog” if you don’t like what you see (and sorry for wasting precious seconds of your blogspotting life).

What to expect...anything that interests me: life in Australia/England/Finland/wherever I may be; cooking and foooood; international law, human rights, politics and most things social justice; fashion; comments on what I’ve been reading; and most likely stuff I stumble across...oh and photos of all of the above!

At friends' suggestion & facilitation, the next project shall be to develop and execute a list of weird things to do while away – the idea is that despite being a loud person within my comfort circle, I get kind of quiet and introverted around people or places I don’t know, so the best way to overcome this and to get into it and have a mad fun time is to make an effort to get out there in whatever way possible. Everything’s worth trying once. So if you have any ideas, please please feel free to suggest something random to do.
